i'd like to add my vote to the "don't worry about it" party. me and a buddy brewed up a coffee stout, my first partial mash attempt. LHBS was out of nottingham, the owner for some reason recommended... can't remember what right now, but after pitching it, i looked it up and realized it was a belgian yeast. figured what the heck, it'll be interesting. after a few days, still no airlock activity. my friend who is new to brewing, was pretty worried about it. i've only got 5 or 6 brews down at this point, but knew enough to not be too worried. decided to check it today after still no signs of activity, about 8 days after pitching. also brewed up a caramel apple mead, smelled delicious. while that was cooling we cracked the stout fermenter and took a sample, 1.028 down from 1.076. i was ecstatic, buddy was amazed. not sure where the gas is going but it tasted great. hoping it'll drop a few more points before bottling. sorry for rambling, twas a good day for brews all around. after that i checked a rochefort 10 clone from ahs, hit the final dead on. was a little shy of the target og so it was a bit sweet, but in a few months it'll be delicious. and after that cracked a sam smith oatmeal stout clone i did end of november and was quite pleased. first one, first beer i've done really, that i felt truly proud of. mmm, beer.

sam smiths oatmeal stout?! One of my favorite beers, please point me in the direction of that recipe! (I was thinking I would love to make an oatmeal stout)

I'm thinking this might have to do with my thread, and I appreciate it though.

Really wish I came on here before I pitched more yeast - (although I did see some very old threads saying 6 grams of yeast was not enough for 5 gallons, so that got me worried)

So you really had no airlock activity? I think I'd be bummed regardless =0 I had a lot of fun just watching the little thing bubble.

here is the recipe i used:

it came out a little sweet, i didn't have a hydrometer back then, but still delicious. also one of my favorite beers. if you dig oatmeal stouts, barney flatts oatmeal stout by anderson valley brewing company is equally as delicious.
i was suprised too, i am really mostly curious about where the c02 is going. a leak? crack in airlock? ah well, as they say, RDWHAHB.

oh, i also enjoy watching the airlock as well... i have a video of my barley wine i did, that thing was constantly bubbling for near 3 days. beautiful.
