How long has it sat? The bubbles look pretty white which leads me to believe you have some bugs in there. Does the surface look oily?

Did you dry hop? I've seen that happen in some of my beers. you get a layer of hop oils on the surface, and then the rising bubbles of co2 get trapped. It's scary but ok.

What yeast did you use. I don't get bubbles like that from hops (not that I've seen, anyway). I've got bubbles exactly like right now on a 6 month old sour brown (lacto, pedio, whatever else is in roeselare and the various dregs I've tossed in there )

I'm putting my money on a lactobacillus infection. That will definitely sour it. If you start getting white growths around the perimeter where the beer touches the walls of the carboy you'll be sure.

Time for a taste test. You should be able to tell if there's something off.

Just a teaser. This sat in my buddies basement for his entire deployment. He forgot about it and we found it last night The air lock was dry and it is clearly infected with pediococcus.

Thanks for playing. I was thinking we should make a stickie with photos of know infections. It would help people learn what bugs have invaded their beer.

I like the idea of pictures of infections. It would kind of like a scab collection.

Yeah, I think it would be helpful. I'll look around for some pictures. Anyone willing to participate pm me with your photos.

There's a 'show us your infection' thread floating around with a bunch of pics.

Yeah there are two maybe three out there already.

Aside from being annoyed, now I'm curious. If it was a good base, it might be tasty.
