Nube here...I searched but couldn't find this topic yet. I have a 7 year old keg of blueberry oatmeal stout that was never carbonized. I'd like to get some thoughts/predictions about the science experiment that is contained within.....go

so there was oxygen in the head space, above the beer? unless the keg was stored cold (in a fridge), it's at least oxidized if not spoiled (soured). either way it won't taste good.

No O2...no headspace...but I think I agree, either way may not taste good. Any other dire predictions? Growth/penicillin/mutant attack yeast?

It was stored in a variety of locations....in Phoenix.

It all depends on how it was handled and packaged. If the headspace was purged and it was sealed up tight it could be good. I would pull a sample and give it a sniff, and if it passes the sniff test go ahead and taste it. It pass that? Carbonate it and drink it. If it was handled properly it will still be beer, flavors probably have mellowed quite a bit though.

Worst case scenario it tastes like crap and you dump it.

You couldn't get a hydrometer reading because you didn't de-gas the sample first - theif or pour enough then pass it back and forth between a couple pint glasses until it goes flat.

Neat that it worked out for you!
