I want to make a Oktoberfest this year ...is it to late to brew one for it to be ready in time ? this years is from Sep. 20th - Oct. 5th

Too late for lagering an Octoberfest (usually done in March) but not too late to make something similar. Use your Octoberfest gain bill and use German Ale yeast (ie. Wyeast 1007). Call it Octoberfast! :ban:

i brewed an all grain oktoberfest which has been lagering now since march. i just hope its ok in there in the fridge the last lager i made was great so im trying to do this one properly. you could as mentioned before try an ale version but your too late this year for a legit lager.

i think edword did a successful ale version

Go for it, you have more than 2 months a lager needs a minimum of 4 weeks, to age so you should be fine, I would much rather drink a young oktoberfest made with the right yeast than one made with ale yeast.

You certainly can make one. I don't know why homebrewers think Oktoberfests have to be brewed in March. German breweries don't even do this anymore. Lagering times follow brewing science not ice-cave lagering traditions:cross:. I would keep it on the lower end of OG, though, so your reduced lagering times won't be a big deal. Noonan recommends lagering 7-10 days (for a dextrinous wort, which an Oktoberfest typically is) for each 2 degrees Plato (8 points of OG). So, if your OG was 1.050, you could lager for 6 weeks and be OK.
