Hey guys its been a long time since my last post but I'm back with a question. I recently brewed my Oktoberfest Extract Kit. Its all ready keged and force carbed. I really like the flavor but it seems to be missing bright floral kick I like. Maybe this is just the flavor of the beer I dont know.

I have dry hopped right in the keg before and loved the outcome. So I'm thinking of doing the same to this batch. Now my questions is.. What hops would you guys recommend for the Oktoberfest?

Well, I don't know if I have an answer for that. You probably made a perfect Octoberfest! Octoberfest is all about the malt and there should be no (or very little) flavor and aroma hops. If you don't care about that, and want to make it the way you like, what kind of hops do you like? You mentioned floral, but you could also lean towards citrusy hops, etc.

I'd probably just leave the Octoberfest alone and make an IPA!

As Yoops said, Oktoberfest is a beer that's completely about the malt. Use traditional noble hops for bittering (Hallertau's a great choice), but no flavor/aroma. If you want a bit more hoppiness, I'm pretty sure altbiers can have a bit more than Oktoberfests, still, it's mostly a malt profile. Keep them noble, however, no Cascade/Amarillo/etc.

Ahh :) Thanks for the help guys. I learn a little every day.

Well it looks like the brew turned out great then :)

I will just have to get a new batch started

Sorry for the dumb questions. :)

Not dumb at all, I tried to make an alt/Oktoberfest-type ale early on, I ended up overhopping it and all the malt character was overpowered. Happy ending, though, I let it sit for eight or nine months and it's excellent.
