Tonight i ran out of beer, not a usual event. So i got to thinking,i have ten gallons, one in primary, one in secondary. The one in secondary just got racked yesterday after two weeks in primary.A honey porter, also both are my first brews waiting to be kegged and bottled.Well,i Couldn't wait,i siphoned three beers from my two week old un carbonated honey porter. It's not bad at all i think!.LoL!!

I am sorry to say i too have done this... I had a room mate who did it cronicly to my fermenters, in fact he seemed to think secondary written on the side was code for "YEEHA FREE BEER". Rest in peace lost ones.... (sighs)

lol!!!,Luckily i live alone. The dogs will do no testing!

don't be too sure

My Dog Ate My Priming Sugar!!!???

Hopefully they Can't open my sterilite containers with my brew stuff,my 10 month old great dane has leaned to open a pen door to spring the other dogs though.I'll have to keep an eye on them!

testing is the first one, I believe that the others would be research. have fun!

Great,I'm doing testing and research tonight!,I'm accomplishing a lot!

Haha I was just thinking of doing this tonight. No bottles and ten gallons...sigh right now i'm just to tired

Good lord people.

I thought I was bad at only letting my beer stay in bottles for a week to 10 days. Sheesh.

The way I see it, would you rather have uncarbed beer now, or decent beer later?

Let the beer stay where its at!

At least get into your beer early when its in the bottles!

How is taking three beers from five gallons going to hurt it?.It tastes damn good right now.

I guess my post didnt come off as the joking smartass I meant it to. I forget that that "I'm not serious" sarcasm is hard to convey over the internet.

I was merely giving you (and others) s*i* about not at least bottling beer before you prematurely got into it.

Hell, on like the third batch that I ever brewed, I discovered that beer can be decent after 5-6 days in the bottle. I've been trying one (on most batches, not every) ever since.

HaHa,It's sometimes hard to get across what you mean on the net.I should have known.

I've definitely done some tasting, though now that I keg I can secondary in the keg... which means I can carb it while I secondary it... so even better ways to test :)

BTW those great danes... smarter than they look (sometimes) mine figured out doors pretty quick. Also trained to go lay down in the other room when we are eating at the table, it can be distracting eating while a dog looks down at your plate drooling.

You can secondary in a keg?.I bought two when i started this.I thought you were clearing the beer in a secondary,Don't you want to let all the junk settle in a secondary before racking to bottles or kegs?

BTW,i started training my dane at 8 weeks old.He can be a dumb A$$ but smart in ways.Definitely one cool dog.And i have had lots.

I don't normally secondary in kegs as I have more 5 gallon carboys than kegs that I'd use to secondary (most are full of finished beer). But when you secondary in the keg you can let it clear there, cold crash it if you like, then just pour off the first pint, that'll clear the sediment right around the dip tube, then just jumper it to another keg to get your clear beer transferred (one length of tubing, two liquid disconnects)
