Hello folks! I've been lurking around these parts (mainly in the DIY forum) for a couple of months now, getting the lay of the land. I thought I'd introduce myself officially and tell you guys/gals a little about me.

I tried brewing for the first time about 4-5 years ago with a Mr. Beer Kit that my dad got me for Christmas. I was disappointed with the results because, well... Mr. Beer. A buddy of mine has been brewing for 3-4 years now and I asked if I could brew with him some time. We spent a day doing an AG batch, drinking (as is required by law, I hear), and hanging out. I enjoyed the experience enough that I decided to start on my own.

On January 1st of this year, that some buddy of mine came over to my house with some of his equipment because I hadn't purchased a full set of my own yet. We brewed an AG Wee Heavy, a recipe that I spent hours and hours researching and formulating. The batch turned out AWESOME. He told me he could see it winning a competition if I entered it... which I haven't.

In January I made a conscious decision to go all grain from the start, and keg rather than bottle because I had some bottle bombs go off when I did Mr. Beer and I didn't want that to happen again. Also, bottling is super time consuming.

So I've currently got a 10 gallon DIY Mash tun from a Home Depot cooler, a 10 gallon MegaPot 1.2, two 6.5 gallon carboys, a 5 gallon carboy, and two kegs. I'm planning on getting another keg or two and turn my beer fridge into a 3 tap kegerator. SWMBO has already approved the undertaking as long as I don't brick the fridge... she stores food in the freezer.

Right now I'm fermenting two batches from a double brew day I had on Good Friday... 10 hours of brewing/drinking. It was beautiful. I've got my second attempt at my Wee Heavy and a Saison going with an American Amber on tap.

Cheers!
