Thanks! I like the idea behind this and I'm currently trying it out.

One major suggestion:
Consider discriminating/filtering the types of venues that prompt a notification either automatically on the back end, or allowing users to filter themselves. The idea would be to only get notifications from locations like bars, restaurants, etc, where beers are actually sold and available to the public. A good deal of check-ins come from people checking in at their home or other random location. I have no interest in learning that Joe Neckbeard is drinking a Double Barrel Hunaphu in his garage, five miles away.

Thank you so much for trying it out! That's a great point, and I am currently filtering and showing only check ins that are tied to a "public" venue (according to Untappd). I have seen a couple come through that seemed to be incorrect, but I will add a "don't tell me about this venue again" link beside each alert in the emails. Thanks again!!

I remember there was another app that worked off untappd, it was really good but data was not always accurate. Turned out creator said untappd capped the number of times that their api could be called. Wondering if your app could run into that problem?

They do have a limit, which is 100 calls per hour per user of the app...so far I've stayed far under that and it seems to be working well! Thank you for your feedback!

Quick update:

- you can now set an alert frequency if a wish list beer is found (30 min, 60 min, or 4 hours)
- there is also now an option to only get a single email per day per beer/venue

A local app (http://nowtapped.com/) I think emailed untappd to work something out to extended it for them. Might be worth reaching out?

Yeah they've done a great job. I was working on something similar and convos with them. I wasn't convinced venues would buy in as much as they have, but for the most part there has been big buy in

Nah. I had a social media account doing updates which another guy approached into turning it into an app. Nowtapped launched at a similar time and there's was better so we stopped.

Nothing like that related. My social media account had other peeps pick up the idea in other cities around Aus. Basically it was about highlighting the best taps each day around the city but it got too much work.

I'd like to revive it. Similar to your idea in the sense that it's about what people want rather than just a mass of info. I really like yours. I'm wondering if nowtapped/beer menus etc tie in would work so if it gets tapped, users would also be alerted without it needing to be checked in?

I've thought about the same thing, because some people want to know about beers that no one else is drinking. I made an app about a year ago that was for people to upload pictures of tap lists and tag what venue they were at, and people could view the most recent ones near them. NowTapped/Beer Menus could definitely do a push system, but I don't know why they don't (or if they have something like that already?). There's something there, but I'm not sure why it isn't out there yet!

Plus it’s way more useful than RB for anything released in the last 3 months.

Thank you, and absolutely! If more than one beer is found, they are all sent in the same email, so I'll do something like "multiple beers" in the subject, but if it's just one I'll add the name of the beer. Thanks!!

Ahhhhh so this is why every single time I log in to untappd it askes for a password to an email account that I dont know the password to.

In any event, I'm still pretty active on the site but really just do it for keeping up with my own ratings/notes...which I've actually been doing a terrible job of. I've just sort of grown to accept my frustrations with certain aspects of the site and do what I can.

No, it's because I got tired of staring at the awful site layout and sifting through the aliased beers while doing research for the site. I still have an account there.
