Thanks! I'll try to come by one share soon, but having a 6 week old son at home can make planning that far out challenging. Yeah, I get the Hotter than Hell burger ever time I go. So good.

We realized one day that we had unintentionally pieced together most of de Garde's the "The" beers so we decided to track down the last couple bottles we didn't have and open them together. A wonderful afternoon was spent with SocalKicks, JonathanAmes, PeelBacks, LSUPT, Sage, stanmarsh, angry_lobster, childblock, SmartyPints, BngrngRufio, ThePerk and a few others drinking through the series. Some random observations:

- I was surprised how different The Anniversary and The Broken Truck are now since I thought they were actually fairly similar when they were young. The Anniversary is still quite bright and lemony while The Broken Truck has taken on a fantastic funky quality. It makes me curious to see where The Broken Truck No. 2 will be in a year as well.

- Both batches of The Lily are outstanding, but very distinct as well. Batch 1 has a noticeable funk that comes through mid-palate into the finish while batch 2 is still dominated by the Tempranillo grape character.

- 3S was a surprise bottle courtesy of ThePerk. I was surprised to see the floral character still present in the nose and in the front. It was probably the weirdest beer of the day, but a treat as well.

- Other favorites for me included Belle Ensemble and Deux Tetes (love how the earthy, funky apple notes).

tl;dr: degardebrewing is producing awesome beer.

Out of curiosity, what was your favorite geuze?

It is extremely hard to pick a favourite...

If you consider Zenne a gueuze, then probably that. Mostly because it was just so different from the others. Incredibly well balanced with a very expressive and delicious sherry character. Lived up to the hype for me.

A&T, 2000 OG, and 2008 OGV were right there though. 2000 had a really lovely nutty character that I really enjoyed. A&T was still incredibly light and bright and just stunning. OGV 08 was very complex and seemed to have an earthier, more rich funk. I would probably rank them as Zenne, A&T, 2000 OG, 2008 OGV, but it's pretty much just splitting hairs.

FYI, the 1959 Goossens had held up incredibly well. The cork had a huge moldy stripe and smelled like a rotting plant.... strongly of dirt and mold. The beer was obviously incredibly oxidized, but had an earthy richness without being overly acidic / acetic. Massive hit of funky blue cheese, mushroom, sesame, some cardboard. It was unbelievably balanced and drinkable, I went back for a second pour.

Oh and also, a little over a year ago I did OGV 08 and A&T in a huge blind gueuze tasting, and OGV came in at #1 without any contextual information. So yeah, these beers are pretty close.

Beer from Good Beer Co in southern California. Great spot putting out good low abv saison or wild ales or whatever you called them. This one is on cherries. Think it is 2 per person for people in their club called the stable. Not turdy but would definitely check our their other stuff.

I'm not in the club, but on wait list.

Awesome tasting, the '06 Iris, '97 Cantillon Grand Cru and the 3F Blauw were the showstoppers for me.
