can we get some highlights?? how's E037 Brute holding up?

my notes are similar to infi - my highlights were:

Hommage b2 - probably the most impressive beer compared to previous times i've had it
MMM - still a perfect beer
Blauw - better than the last bottle i had, just magnificent
St Lam 14 - amazing fresh. had a 15 iris the other day and felt like that one isn't as good fresh, but this st lam was really perfect at the time.
Buckley - never heard of this before, but super impressive
OGV 07 & 08 - wonderful treats, gave the edge to the 07 only slightly...3F makes the best gooozie
Currant Gin Bu - this was one of my fav de gardes the gin worked SO well
Blue BBLs - i loved this one as well

always fun times...and always giant holes in my memory

Please don't post any of these thoughts on Transient Buckley anywhere near Chicago Craft Beer Enthusiasts. They'll start invading and asking for all the Bu's, all the Loons, all the HF, and all the SARA.

Us locals know how good it is, but we don't want that group knowing that the rest of the country is finding out. They'll just ruin it for everyone.

So this tasting is from like 2 months ago, but have been way too lazy to post pics. Regardless, it was such a blast that I really needed to share.

Myself, facesnorth, Youmakemehoppy and one other did the damage.

My favorite 3 beers of the day:
CCK--Like drinking cherry pie. And the dregs, holy crap out of this world good.
Ann--Perfect saison, lived up to the hype for me.
KBBS--Like drinking maple bourbon candy, and of course had that amazing signature TG mouthfeel

Other notes:
SHBRL--Jammy and funky, but did not knock my socks off. Could be a bit past its prime or just bottle variation.
VSB--Tasted off, really did not enjoy it. Only real disappointment of the day since I had a bottle that knocked my socks off last October.
CD11--So much citrus! Absolutely delicious.
CD10--Lots of funk, this and Art were about neck and neck for me
PvW Black Magick--Best non-adjunct stout I've had. Flavors blended together wonderfully. Only complaint was a bit thin for my taste
Black & Wild--First couple sips were terrific, like sour cherries. However as it warmed got way too sour for my taste
La Fosse--Terrific nose, like smelling dried apricots. Very sour though
Westly--Might have just been pallete fatigue, but thought this was ok at best (I know, blasphemy). Enjoyed the nose more than the taste, only thought it was a slight improvement over West Ash
Murda'd--Just ok, got lost with all the other beers we had
Izzy--Awesome treat, I enjoyed the funkiness (but can't seem to recall the flavor--likely because I'm trying to do this 2 months later with no notes).

The other guys can feel free to chime on their thoughts...
A big thanks to some of the guys on this site who made helped us track down some of the harder to get bottles: amk Krebsy Alex A

All in all amazing day--terrific beer, perfect weather and fantastic company. Looking forward to getting together for future shares!

Rare- Was awesome and not oxidized at all
Grzz- Apricot>Kriek>Strawberry>Berry>...................Crime of Passion
de Garde- Anniversary was such a great beer
2 yr Portugese DL has been my least favorite of the variants from this year I've had. (Havent had Cherry Cocoa)

The below was a cuvee of many of the darker beers present (primarily coffee variants), including BCBCS '12, Maple Tripple, Fayston's Maple, NCBC Coffee Concrete Pillow, Deal with the Devil and Funky Buddha MBCP. Topped with a slice of grilled bacon.

This was our tasting from Friday in Galveston. Jvrdz24 rented an awesome beach house for it, it was a pretty fantastic night. All the bottles followed by my top 3, and then some notes.

Alright so, top 3 in no order:

VSB: Absolutely insane. Huge jammy blackberries on the nose, I couldn't believe how complex it was with how fruit forward it was. Blackberry pie with tobacco, wood, funk. One of the best beers I've ever had.

Black Agnes: Again, insane. Intense blackcurrant, blackberry, honey aroma. The flavor and mouthfeel are just perfect. So incredibly jammy and smooth. One of the best beverages and the best mead I've had.

Nectarine Premiere: More insanity! I wanted to smell this beer forever. The Nectarine presence is mindblowing. So incredibly juicy, very sour with medium carb. My favorite beer of the night and my favorite De Garde.

Honorable mentions:

Rare: Favorite BA stout of the night and still my favorite non adjunct BA stout. First time I had it was back in December, so I can't really comment on if it's fallen off, but I think it's pretty perfect.

Imperial Stone Bu: Incredible and my favorite Bu so far, just ahead of Imperial Apricot. I couldn't stop smelling the bottle later on as it had warmed up, just so enticing.

2013 Prop: More coconut in this bottle than the one I had in December, but it's definitely very balanced with the base beer. Absolutely delicious.

Cellarman: Perfect American saison. Saison Bernice was previously my favorite saison, and this is just as good, if not better. So juicy and complex, perfect amount of tartness.

Oak Theory: Right up there with the previous two, but I enjoy SARA just slightly more, I think Cellarman had just a bit more brightness to it, and that SARA yeast is perfect. Had Cellarman not been at this share, it would have been my favorite non fruited sour beer that night.

Chocolate Raspberry Port Pyment: Tasted straight up like a raspberry tootsie roll. Maple syrup as it warmed. I loved it.

Oude RRuin: Cinnamon brown sugar cherries. Best sour brown ale I've had.

2014 Fou: So god damn clean. Drinking this on the beach at night was one of the best moments of this share.

El Gordo: 2012 batch, 2013 bottling. Non barrel aged RIS that tasted like it could have already been barrel aged. Easily the best non BA stout I've had.

Plenty of other delicious beers, but those were just my favorites.

Cheers!

Hopefully this video works. Great night with a lot of fellow fib TBers for my bday. Highlight was MMM which was magical. I'm really surprised the maple was still hanging around. Cherry cocoa, coffee, and bvdl were on a different level than the rest of the DL's IMO. Biggleswade and brandy were abominations. Also finally ticked DFPF which was really good. I've heard that a lot of bottles weren't. But Tony's was great.

Tasting with Vogt52 and 2 other buddies.
Growlers were On the wings of Armageddon, and Two Hearted Ale.
Not pictured is a bomber of imperial doughnut break, which mysteriously was drank at the end of the night, and found empty in the trash.
I feel like we had the potential to drink more, however, we learned that its a good idea to not start in the evening and drink nonstop, but maybe start earlier in the afternoon and pace yourself all day. We all blacked out.

Highlights were: Sucaba, Sunny Side Up coffee stout, OTWOA, The abyss, and Evolution Spring migration rum barrel.

Le Petit Prince was a definite let down. And Silly Sour is a great beer for the price. The Sam Adams tetravis was a pleasant surprise as well

How was the utopias?

How was the utopias?

Yea it was quite possibly the strangest bottle I've ever opened of Utopias. It was an open bottle from 2011 that I had been storing in my temp controlled converted chest freezer, and it had an aroma / flavor that was 100% perfume like.

Unfortunate to say the least.

That's just strange. You think that is what the oxidation effect might smell like on an extreme high ABV beer like utopias? No way an infection could happen, all that alcohol would thwart off any kind of bacteria.

i have a bottle from 2011 that i have an ounce from on my daughter's bday every year and it tasted perfect back in March.
