Well, in a photo of three people, going from left to right, "3, 1, 2" would indicate that i find the person in the middle most sexually attractive, followed by the person on the right, followed by the person on the left.
I have simply applied this same method to lambic.
So there's a debate about how this works, and I've actually seen it cause great discord and confusion elsewhere.
Method A:
What's described above, where the numbers indicate preference and the sequence is given in physical order. "3, 1, 2" would imply that the most desirable person/object is in the middle, the 2nd most desirable is on the right, and the 3rd most desirable is on the left. The merit of this approach is that you can scan from left to right and see each person's rank.
Method B:
You order the objects/people by how desirable they are, so the numbers indicate physical order and the sequence is given in terms of preference. "3, 1, 2" would indicate that the person on the right (the 3rd person) is the most desirable, followed by the person on the left, followed by the person in the middle. This is what you might have in mind if you asked a question like, "Who were the winners?". "3, 1, 2" would say that 3 was 1st place, 1 was 2nd place, and 2 was 3rd place.
I'm pretty sure that this confusion was what got Steve Harvey in trouble with the Miss Universe pageant, and I expect to be a secondary cause of World War 3.
I would encourage the powers that be to choose one of these methods as the official TalkBeer method and ban users who don't comply.
