Has anyone used oatmeal in anything other than a stout?
Thinking about an Oktoberfest with oatmeal, i think it will blend the malts together with a smooth feel to it?
Any thoughts?

good question, i was asking about oatmeal in an American red and people then suggested i use malto dextrin instead

No reason you couldn't put oatmeal in many beers although an Oktoberfest isn't one I would choose. Pale ales, porters, ESB, IPA come to mind.

I've used oatmeal in a porter and ESB with good results. Honestly, though, as long as everything is sanitized...you can do whatever the ... heck you want.

I put oatmeal in a brown ale... better than I expected. Would probably do it again, but actually follow the recipe this time. :drunk: (oats were supposed to be roasted in my recipe, and I didn't roast them, just threw them in the mash)

Nice smooth taste. Still a bit green though (only been in bottle for 2 weeks)
