i was thinking i should oak my mead and see what happens.
my recipe is 12lbs of a medium coloured local honey
topped the carboy with water
1118 yeast
nutrient
energizer
that is all that is there now.
so i went and bought toasted oak, regular oak and french oak because i didn't know which one to choose. i thought you guys might be able to help me out on what will get what flavour to the mead.
my plan is to rack it once into another carboy onto the oak chips that i choose to use. let it sit for about 3 weeks and then start to put it into gallon jugs so that i can put it on different frozen fruits for different flavours, ie: raspberry, blackberry and so on.

love to hear any feed back
