I have a 7 gallon conical with a coil for chilling. This has a floating dip tube and I added Trong's Double Filter Inlet to attach to this. The transfer went fine, until the last ~2 gallons of beer. Could it be that the floating dip tube is getting hung up somewhere? It's difficult to tell, since I cannot see the issue after I remove the lid.

Is it inside the coil? Probably the hose gets in the way. Especially if it's not to flexible. Vinyl or silicone?

If outside of the coil. Then is the float too big for the space between the side of the conical and the coil at that liquid level?

The silicone tube is outside the coil. I heard back from Trong and he said that I "probably had the silicone tubing too long and at some liquid level the float and DFI got stuck (jammed up between the coil and the wall) above the liquid level for the beer to get out. You could probably see this when you first opened up and look inside."

A two gallon loss is a huge amount with your batch size. If your fermenter has a racking port I'd skip using the floating dip tube. There's a lot of stuff hanging inside that has prevented racking out the full amount and future brews could suffer the same.

Just my opinion but I would deal with clarifying the beer after racking than risk losing that much beer.
