I just racked into my five gallon secondary and am a gallon short. Can I just put this in a corny keg and throw some gas on top till it finishes fermenting and then carbonate it like normal in the same keg? I don't mind a little extra sediment. I just racked it an hour ago, I figure I will transfer tomorrow night, any problems?

would I just float the gas on top or would I actually pressurize it? I was planning on gassing it, blowing off the air, gassing it and then just letting it sit for a couple weeks. The gas will have replaced the air and I wasn't going to add more gas again. Thoughts?

Yes, just put gas and bleed off the air but watch that further fermentation does not make the pressure go up too high. I have a pressure relief valve (Spunding Valve) that I use when doing this sort of thing. There is also a pressure guage inline so I know what is going on. Right now I have 12 gallons in a Sankey keg with the spunding attached so it will finish under pressure. I have it set to 10.5 lbs so it will be drinkable when finished lagering.

Thanks. Great to hear. I figured it would work out, now I know. I have done this with wine before, just never beer.
