If I was in the same situation, I would have used his beer too.

I’d use his beer to out out a camp fire. Why waste water. Still, good on the guy. Thats a hairy situation. I live 40 miles away and the smoke here is incredible.

Yeah, as much as that saga is ripe for poking, I gotta say the context is saddening. An area almost the size of Rhode Island going up in flames and taking a whole lot of folks' homes with it kinda takes the edge off the fun...
