Hey guys,
The park I work at is a working farm museum and equestrian center. After cleaning the stalls following all the equine events and from daily stall cleaning of farm animals, we have accumulated quite a bit of compost. It is mostly stavings and straw for animal bedding with some manure mixed in. We run it through an agricultural manure grinder to chop it up very finely.
It is the left in piles, occasionally turned by the tractor buckets and is now very dark and constantly steaming. We have more than we can spread on the fields this year so we have opened up the public to come and grab some if they need it. It is great for gardening (including hops).
Not sure if anyone in northern virginia could use some, but I figured I would extend the offer. If you have a truck or trailer get in touch with me and I can load it with a tractor. If not grab a few buckets and fill them up!
PM or email me for the address.
