Hi all im making my first ever batch of cider with apples from my garden just did a 1 gallon demijohn worth I used

1 gal of fresh apple juice (unpasteurised)

Threw in 1 crushed Campden left for 48 hours

Pitched the yeast 5g packet of youngs cider yeast (no starter made added straight to demijohn)

1 teaspoon of yeast nutrient

50 grams of brewers sugar

The intial hydrometer reading was 1050

My question is for the first 5 days fermentation has been violent lots of bubbles in airlock etc now today there is nothing could it be done fermenting ? Moved it from my kitchen which was quite cold to a warmer spot last night but still nothing.

Thanks to all

Paul

Sounds perfectly fine. Take another hydrometer sample in a day or so and see if you have hit your final gravity. Airlock bubbles are not a usable measurement of fermentation. I've had batches that barely bubbled at all. Hydrometers are the only tell tale way of checking how fermentation is going. Congrats! You made cider! I bet it's awesome too. Prost!

Hi thanks for the response, will do that in a couple of days. Im looking forward to bottling and tasting ;-)
