Newbie from Ft. Myers Florida

Good day everyone,
I am so new I haven't done any yet. I am going the next few days to Kmart and buy a Mr. Beer starters set.. From reading the Mr. Beer postings there is a love hate relationship with it. I figured for the price (on sale for $29.99 regularly $54.99) for the Mr. Beer North American Beer Brewing Collection (with bottles) it gives me a starting point to see if this is something I really want to do. Is this a inexpensive way to start?

I would also consider a 1-gallon kit, they're commonly available.
