Hello Everyone, my name is Larry, I've been lurking for some time but now just getting into home brewing. I'm a big beer guy who loves the hoppy stuff:
Gandhi Bot, Fuzzy Baby Ducks, Hopstillo, Flower Power, West Coast Ipa, Sculpin, Sierra Nevada Torpedo...The list goes on and on.

I ordered all my supplies and cant wait for them to arrive soon.

The only thing I didn't order yet was the stuff to make a yeast starter, the ingredient kit I ordered (Depthcharge by Jaspers) suggests I make one but do I have to?

Thanks
Larry

Welcome to the hobby, and the group, from CO :mug:

You don't need to make a starter, it is a way to cheaply multiply your yeast, hence, buying less. As long as you pitch adequate yeast amounts (using a calculator like mrmalty.com) you're no worse off, just spending more on yeast.

Thanks guys

I tried Fuzzy Baby Ducks for the first time a couple weeks ago and loved it immediately. I also tried Kiwi Rising which prompted some changes for my next brew: Brewcraft Dry Hopped West Coast IPA, but I swapped the columbus and chinook hops for nelson and galaxy. We'll see how it goes, I just need the deep freeze we're in to pass so I can use my hose for my wort chiller...
