Very new to the hobby and looking to gain some knowledge! Have brewed one batch a few years ago and turned out...well I drank it. I used well water and it tasted like it. Very interested in doing it right this time and making something I can enjoy.
I am a cigar enthusiast (Crowned Heads, Tatuaje, etc.) and play too much golf. I have an Ale Pail brewing kit that is several years old and missing some pieces, but I assume it will work for now. I guess I will find out soon enough. Hoping to make a long time hobby of this since I thoroughly enjoy craft beer of many styles.
Until a year ago, I couldn't stand IPA. Now it's my go to but it doesn't pair well with most cigars. Looking to brew some stouts to enjoy this winter.
Some of my favorite beers include (but not limited to); 3 Floyds Yum Yum (Zombie is good but I enjoy the grapefruit notes in Yum), Samuel Smith Old Brewery Pale Ale, Ten Fidy, and Dragons Milk.
As I said, just looking to gain knowledge and make something that I can be proud of. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Welcome to HBT and back to the hobby! Stouts would be good as you're learning, also, because they are flavorful and tend to mask off-flavors a little bit. Keep us informed on how things develop!

Welcome fellow Indiana friend! I also enjoy lots of cigars; Fuentes/Opus X, Padrons, Ashtons and many Cubans. I can't afford to gold though with my existing hobbies. I tend to brew the darker beers, stouts and brown ales as they fit the style I smoke and drink. I have inlaws in the Ft. Wayne area and know of two homebrew places over there so that may be a good place to visit and pick their brains. Welcome to the club!

Welcome aboard from eastern Indiana!
Haven't had a good cigar in I don't know how long. That might change this weekend based on this, thank you.
Most anything you want to know is here.
Don't know your schedule or exact location, but I'm brewing at noon tomorrow...

CajunChuck-Now were talking! Great cigars. Which two home brew places? I assume one is Brewers art supply?

Mexibilly-I'm located in Churubusco. Would be happy to trade a fine cigar or two for a brew session with a veteran! Unfortunately I work weekends so Fri-Sun are tied up which makes it a bit difficult to meet up with regular scheduled folks. The schedule does have its advantages though...

Already learning great stuff on these forums! Read 42 pages of sanitation advice. Ordered Starsan. Read the entire How to brew by Palmer. Ordered the rest of what I believe I'll need for brew day except the extract kit. Going to do a few of these before I invest in FG equipment. Can't wait to get something fermenting!

Welcome to the group, from CO :mug:

I also love Belgians with cigars- quads, dubbels, and the like. The fruity esters bring out interesting tobacco notes.

You came to the right place for info on brewing. some of the beers you mentioned have home brewer's versions on here. And a cigar forum as well a bit lower down the list. Lots of recipes in the red strip at the top, including porters & stouts. :mug:
