I live in South Jersey and I'm just getting into homebrewing. For my 21st birthday, my housemates got me a Mr. Beer kit (they didn't understand my love of beer, but at least recognized it). I whipped it up and it was...terrible. So now, 3ish years later, I'm trying again. I got a starter kit from Northern Brewer, I found a cheap 8 gallon SS pot on ebay, borrowed a jet propane burner from my dad and today I built an immersion chiller (plumbing is apparently not a career choice for me, btw).

Unfortunately, I'm currently living at home, and mom is definitely not thrilled at my new choice of hobbies. She assumes I'll be making a huge mess. I certainly hope to not, but hey, we'll see.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to getting into the hobby. I'll be sure to post how my first batch goes!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Homebrewing!! hope your mom is a patient lady!! watch out for the big boilover!! hehe Hey from north Jerz!
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Welcome to the board. Make sure to clean up after your brewing
to keep mom happy. My wife hasn't had to clean anything after
me and she's happy. When momma's happy everybody's happy. ;)

Im game. there is some couple in northern marlton with what they call a club. never called em though

Welcome to your new obsession..
I'm in NNJ (Tenafly)
Heed the words of Elfmaze, careful with the Star San inside. Your mom will be pissed if you start bleaching **** out...
Ohter then that ENJOY!!!!!!

beercrafters in turnersville. i also shop at wine barley and hops in the northeast, and Keystone homebrew supply in warminster. But thats only because i work out that way. I was thinking of starting a HBS in marlton up by the 70/73 circle. i think with marlton, medford, and cherryhill right there it would do well.

I fear we are in for at least four years. So when are we arranging a Brew day with everyone here? I just blew a keg last night and need restocked.

I'd be up for a brew day/get together.
I only have five gallons I need to keg today.
I don't want to brew till the weather cools down some.

Damn I was gong to go Friday to buy some stuff for a weeknd brew session and to see if I could get any deals. Should I bother?

He still has a good deal of specilty grains. was only offering %15 off though. Cheap #!@$#!$. No extracts left. limited yeast selection. I'd call first.

Just went there today. I got a stir paddle, a bottle washer, and some irish moss. Not much left besides some dusty wine kits and still a lot of specialty grains. He filled a guy's CO2 tank while we were there and he said that was it for his CO2 also. There are still a couple of miscellaneous gadgety things, but nothing too exciting. My buddy got a bunch of hops and some yeast nutrient. The owner said they'd be closing officially on the 15th, but he doubted they'd actually be open that long. So, if you want to go, go soon.
