Hello everyone, my wife and I just recently took a little home brewing class. We have decided to try this as a new hobby. Does anyone have suggestions on equipment/kits we should definitely buy? With that said, here is a little about us. We are from Alabama and both in the medical field. We look forward to learning from the more experienced brewers.

Welcome to HBT and home brewing. Most people start out with the basic beginner kits from either Northern Brewer or Midwest Supplies. Typically, most people start out brewing extract kits and decide whether or not they want to go all-grain from there. Whatever you decide, it will be a lot of fun. Cheers!

Welcome to the forum, from Minnesota!

A lot of ways you can go, but a basic kit is a good way to start. If you have a local home brew store (LHBS), that's great, but if not, plenty of companies do mail order. Northern Brewer, Midwest Supplies, MoreBeer, Austin Homebrewing, William's Brewing, Farmhouse Brewing Supply, to name a few.

I would suggest a good book to help get you going and to understand the process. How To Brew, by John Palmer, is an excellent primer on home brewing.
