I don't have any ?s right now. I just stumbled upon this site while researching and found it to be my kind of place. I just brewed my first beer ever last night. It is a red ale. I am hoping that everything goes smoothly. I made a few mistakes, but I don't think they are anything to worry about. Wish me luck :)

it was a kit I think it was brewers best ( i was driking and brewing)... pretty sure it was the red ale. I will find out more in a few hours when I go to where the beer is made/stored at (i dont have room to do it here):rockin:

My only suggestion, if the only brewing resource you've tapped so far is the instructions in your kit, research this website and www.howtobrew.com for more accurate techniques and procedures, (i.e. fermentation time, your kit might say 1 week, but a 2 week minimum is the generally accepted time)

I have a homebrew book as well, but thanx for the info... I was thinkin more like a week to ten days in primary, then a secondary for an unknown amount of time.

A lot of folks on here primary for up to 30 days, and skip the secondary. The line of thinking is you're leaving your beer with the yeast cake longer, and it really cleans up after itself, giving you a clearer beer. So unless you're adding fruit, you might want to consider leaving it in primary, then going straight to keg/bottles.

Good luck!

I may just do that. I have been reading alot more today, and I see taht pattern. I don't really care how it happens, I just want a good beer. So I am open to trying stuff or not trying stuff. Also, easier is better too: who isnt lazy a little bit hehe.
