Surprised I didn’t easily find something when I searched. Anyway, I bought food grade hose from Home Depot recently. I cut the tubing in two 5’ lengths and cleaned them with OxyClean, but they still both really smell strong like rubbery plastic. I soaked end in end a cup of water for maybe 10 mins and didn’t notice much of anything. I’m afraid to run my beer through it though.

Anyone else deal with this?

I was kegging my last batch and couldn't find my transfer tube. I ran to Lowe's and bought some EZ-FLOW clear vinyl tube but never used it because I remembered where I left my old tube. I've been keeping it as a backup, but I'm hesitant to use it for the same reason, it had a strong plastic smell. The label says non toxic, but I might just return it.

Even food grade vinyl (aka PVC) tubing definitely comes with a factory aroma, but it does dissipate with use.
I have all kinds of racking jumpers made from vinyl tubing and they have no smell...

Cheers!

Maybe circulate warm PBW through the line for a few hours. Rinse and smell if it has improved.

Some vinyl line really has a bad plastic smell. What makes them "food grade?"
The HD and Lowe's lines usually smell terribly and are very stiff.

The lines I get at my brew store never have a smell. Most are branded "Kuriyama." They're nice and flexible too.
