Hi all,

My name is Bill, and I'm from Columbia SC. I hope not to be a huge Pain In The A.. but I'm trying to learn all I can about brewing before I invest in the wrong setup.

I'm a beer drinker from way back. My everyday drinker is Miller Lite, please don't hate me. But I enjoy a carefully crafted IPA whenever I can. With a limited beer budget, I don't get too many of those in the fridge, but I try.

My goal isn't to become the next craft brewer to make it big on the national level, but rather, I want to learn the art of brewing, just like I spent the last 12 years of my life learning the true art of BBQ'ing. I am a patient man.

Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your community!

Greetings Bill and welcome to the obsession. Based on what you posted you're definately in the right spot. So when you're ready get to brewin' so you can RDWHAHB!

As for Miller Lite, I always have a keg of it in the kegerator right next to the keg of home brew because let's face it, people don't change over night. But, I keep trying! :D

Cheers! and welcome!!!

Homebrewers come in all shapes, sizes, sexes, colors, ages, etc. We all like different aspects of brewing. Some like the science, some like the art, some like to build brewing gadgets, some are just looking to get drunk, some are cheapskates (hoping homebrewing is cheaper than buying beer), some like competitions. Everyone comes at it for their own personal reasons, none of which are wrong. We are a pretty accepting group, and try to keep any criticisms productive (doesn't always work, but whatever).

This is a GREAT place to seek out information...it can be a little overwhelming, but start reading, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Many people here are happy to share their decades of experience with all newcomers willing to learn.

Hey, Hey. I'm in Aiken, SC. I just did my first batch this weekend. We were up in Columbia on Saturday, first the Flying Saucer, then over to Bet-Mar to get some homebrew supplies.
