Hey. I've been lurking here for months and figured I would jump in. After years of visting breweries across the US and being immersed in craft brew culture I finally had the nerve to do it. Starting with a True Brew 5 Gallon kit, minus a secondary fermemter.
First brew was a Munton's Pre-Hopped IPA Extract Kit. Kicked it off in December with a successful brew/fermentation/bottling. Now at the 3 week point for bottle conditioning. Sampled a bottle yesterday and I'm very happy with the results. Following directions and taking it easy seemed to help everything go along well.
I will be diving into another extract brew project next weekend with the addition of specialty malts and hops. Baby steps work for me right now before I get into mad-scientist mode. I'll get there for sure... just not yet
Anyway, wondering if anybody else is surprised by the volume of hit-and-run posts in the beginner forum by desperate first time brewers looking for answers mid-brew... but then they often do not revisit their post to give an update on what happened.
