Go ahead and dry hop with pellets - don't bother with a mesh bag, they'll escape. Just be prepared for a little extra trub. I hear a pantyhose leg might contain pellet debris a little better than the HBS available hop bags, but I'm not in the business of buying women's underwear. Besides, it looks better on the floor of the bedroom than in my beer.

I disagree. Yuri "the tool man" Rage has no time for such things as women's panties. He needs to be in his garage toying with new and amazing things for those of us that have no DIY gene to gawk at.

Welcome to HBT, dude. You'll find that with A LOT of research and some well placed questions that you can find the answers to just about anything that you are looking for somwhere on this site.

I just started brewing a few months ago so I know how overwhelming it can be. I'm certainly no expert, but the folks here have been a tremendous asset to me as I'm sure that they will be to you as well.

When dry hopping into the secondary fermenter....just drop the pellets in? And...when getting ready to bottle do I need to strain as I did before placing in the primary fermenter or just siphon carefully?

Just drop 'em in. By the time you're ready to bottle they will have settled out along with yeast and other sediment.

Just rack to your bottling bucket and stop before you suck up all the stuff on the bottom.

Personally I would dry hop with a mesh bag or something similar. I tried the throw it in method, and inadvertantly sucked up some hops into my bottling bucket. Not fun to strain out.

Another recommended method I have seen is a paint strainer (mesh bag) over the end of a racking cane.
