New member to the forum, and looking for info on brewing. I have brewed one 5 gallon batch to start, an amber ale, that came out decent. I used a kit with malt extract that came with my equipment (brew share enjoy kit I got for Xmas).

I want to branch out from the extracts, and have been reading up on Boil-In-Bag vs going another round with extracts. Can anyone provide me with some insight into this boil-in-bag method? I’m not ready for a full grain brew yet, just looking beyond using extract.

Brew-in-a-bag is largely an all-grain technique. It consists of mashing the grains at your desired temperature for the determined length of time, then removing the grains allowing them to drain (sometimes a makeshift sparge is employed) and proceeding with boil, cool and pitch as usual.

You can do a partial mash version where you aim for your flavor/some percentage of fermentables from a mini-mash, then adding the rest of the fermentables with light DME.
