Hey all,

New to kegging. My new 4 keg system arrived today and I tried to take the kegs apart to clean them (ball lock) and discovered that I can only remove the posts on 2of my 4 kegs. 2 kegs have posts that I can remove with a deep 11/16 socket. The other kegs dont have the same size posts. They have this weird star shaped nut that is bigger than any socket I own (the largest being 13/16) and I can't get an adjustable wrench on it because the handles are in the way.. So what is this star shaped nut IMG_1556.jpg and what do I use to remove it?

Thanks guys!

Ahoy hoy
its 7/8s. a 12 point socket will do it. I had to figure it out on my own in the middle of winter. The cold sockets embedded it in my brain forever. Hope that helps!

Or box end wrench, that's what I use. I've got 13 cornies and one is 11/16ths, the other 12 are 7/8ths.

I had a hell of a time finding a socket in that size so I went with a box (12 point) wrench and the only place I could find hat was Ace

Auto parts stores usually have the box end wrenches. The big box stores (HD and Lowes) don't seem to carry anything larger than 3/4".

In a pinch a pair of channel lock pliers will do the job as long as you get a good grip and hold on tight so you don't strip it. Every time I do that I promise to go and buy the right socket - next time!
