So I just planted hops this year. I built a little trellis and they are slowly growing up the twine as I wrap them. Recently (around 4-5 feet long now), the main shoot has slowed down a lot and 4 or 5 laterals at the bottom are growing very fast, some over a foot long. Do I cut those to push the main shoot to grow? If I keep them do I just let them grow or do I wrap them also? Any help would be great. thanks!

First year hop grower as well... from what I've read you dont really need to trim anything the 1st year. This will help to maximize the energy for the plant to develop its root system.
