Hi, I'm Richie.

After years and years of talking about it, I'm finally getting around to making my own beer soon. I was in the Marines with a guy that made his own in a rented storages unit(he lived in the barracks) and he got me hooked on drinking beers that are better than what you can buy at gas stations. That was in the mid 90s when the microbrew thing was big out in southern california and I got around to drinking a few (yup, that's an understatement) different beers and have been wanting to do it since then.

Now I'm ahead on the bills enough and have the room and time to finally do it.

I've been reading quite a few of the threads here and I can see all the questions I had are the same ones that have been asked a few hundred times.

There's alot of information here and it seems to be one hell of a helpful place.

Richie,

I'm assuming that you're in ABQ? If so, Victor's Grape Arbor on San Mateo, tucked behind the Denny's and hotel near I-40 is about the only shop in town. It's a pretty good shop with good people though. I definitely recommend it.

There's also a the local homebrew club, Dukes of Ale. I haven't ever hung out with any of them.

Anyways, welcome to the board! :rockin:

Victor's is a good shop, been around for years. The Duke's are good folks and meet on the first Thursday at Marble Brewing. There are a lot of brewers around. Welcome to HBT.

I'm actually in Moriarty, just over the mountain from Albuquerque. I'll check out Victors next time I have some time to kill and I was actually planning on going to the dukes' meeting in a few days.

I plan on being at the Dukes meeting. Name is Tom. Hope to see you there.

The Dukes are meeting at O'Niell's on Central and Washington this coming Thursday at 6:30pm. A new meeting place for a few meetings and this month will have Sour Ales and a club only comp.

Hope to see you there!

All types of NM folks coming out of the woodwork!

I'm tempted to attend this week's meeting, especially since I don't have much experience with sour ales....yard work calls though. I'll have to see, since I don't really have any spare time to devote to the group. Already running on borrowed time whenever I brew!

Come on, you know you want to...

Procrastination for the sake of beer is perfectly acceptable.

It's been too windy out this way to do anything outside..........that's the excuse I'm using.

I really like O'Neill's also. That's a very nice place with a good tap selection. I might have to see what I can break free :mug:

I have 6 tons of gravel staring me down in my driveway. I moved about 2.5 tons in two hours tonight before it got too dark. If I get an early start, maybe I can finish it off tomorrow. Then after that much work, I should deserve a beer evening :rockin:
