Whats up everyone, been taking in a lot of your advice and have done a couple extract kits and made the decision to buck up and go right to all grain, so i'm sure i'll be spending most time in that section.

Welcome from a former fellow-PA-er. Lot's of other PA brewers on here. Congrats on bucking up to AG. Its difficulty is highly over-rated.

Welcome from Allentown! Looking to make the same move up. I have the keggle, mash tun and ordered my Victoria grain mill.

I did a partial mash first, using a nylon mesh bag in a stockpot on the stove. I mashed/sparged 4 pounds of grain, and then added one can of LME. It gave me a feel for mashing before my first all-grain. By the way, I just recently tasted my first all-grain brew. WOW! What an improvement! Wish I'd gone all-grain sooner.

Good luck with the all-grain.

greetings from nanticoke pa feel free to stop down anytime for a allgrain brew day

Good to hear from you!
I am from Sunbury, PA. About an hour west on I80 from Hazelton. I Grew up in Scranton. Brewed many of extract beers, and my favorite has to be the Belgian style of beers.

I would love to stop by for an AG day. Since I started posting I have 3 AG's under my belt...a blonde, american wheat, and porter(actually the porter that was entered into the beerfest at split rock from one of the guys at wyoming valley homebrewers).

I have another session planned for next sunday for an APA, definitely loving the AG process.

My summer is pretty packed, let me know when u plan on brewing nanticoke, I'll see what I can do.

Where at in Hazleton do you work annasdad?

Never heard of them, what exactly do you do?

Yeh actually it was the coconut porter recipe posted by steve nagey on the website that I tried to make. Instead of doing it verbatim I tried to put my own little spin on it. I used different ratios in my grist to make it a little bit maltier and also mashed it at higer temps, I have it bottle conditioning right now and it should be ready in about 2 weeks.

You ever go to the Arena, they have some great microbrews on their happy hour friday nights at a nice price?

I do commercial weed spraying. In fact, my work truck would probably make an excellent brewery...2 600 gallon stainless steel tanks, 3 30 gallon conical fermenters(I mean injection tanks), pumps, hoses, everything I'd probably need. Too bad it's all full of herbicides. :(
Do you know Steve Nagley, or you just came across the site?
I love the Arena...they have an incredible selection..I try to get there about once a month or so.

I do not know him, but I just came accross it online

That does sound like a sweet set up. Me and the sig. other were just up there last night. They have a nice line of summer wheats on tap for the happy hour rate on fridays.
