I've been lurking on this site for quite sometime. I finally decided to register and introduce myself.

My name's Dave and I've only been brewing for about 10 months. I received a MrBeer kit for Christmas last year and brewed a few HME batches from MrBeer and started making my own recipes in the LBK's using DME/LME and hops. By spring I graduated to 5 gal extract batches. And shortly after that started doing BIAB batches and started kegging. This summer I began doing AG mashes in a 10 gal cooler, yeast starters and washing yeast.

I've been bit pretty hard by the home brewing bug! I am now the president of a local brew club and currently have 15 gallons fermenting. I've progressed pretty fast as a brewer and have to give a lot of credit to the people on this forum. This place is a wealth of information. I hope I can return the favor and pay it forward and help out other brewers in the future.

Salude
Dave

I got started last Christmas too when my wife bought me a DIY Cooper's brew kit! We now have a second fridge, and a whole room full of beer, brewing tools, fermenters, etc.

Anyway, good for you with leading your local brew club! Reading that may have just given me enough encouragement to finally contact a local club myself. :mug:

I recommend that every home brewer attend a HBC meeting. If you love brewing and drinking great beer as much as I do, you'll really enjoy it! Take a few bottles of your favorite homebrew and enjoy the club members beers too. If anything you will get some honest critiques of your brew and some ideas to make it better. Even if you have a beer with off flavors that you can't pin point, take it to a meeting. They will be able to tell you what went wrong. It can be intimidating at first but the rewards are well worth it IMO.

I have emailed a local club to see when and where their next meeting is at. I will definitely use your suggestion to bring in some homebrew for the club members to try. What a great way to get acquainted! Thanks for the tip!

Nice. I just entered in one of my beers to a competion for the first time, not to long ago, wasnt local though. Almost sent a few into competiton locally but got lazy though, but what a thrill. Got a great score,as well! Id say you got bit hardcore,Mr. President.
