New 52qt Coleman Xtreme cooler is on the way. Now I just need to find some stainless steel wire to reinforce the braid.

My turkey fryer finally kicked the bucket and I was trying to decide what kind of burner to go with. I borrow a friend's dark star and it was definitely better than my turkey fryer. I borrowed another friends cheap ass restaurant supply burner, it was okay but threw out all sorts of soot on my pot no matter how much I adjusted the flame. Finally I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the Blichmann top tier burner. I have only done two batches on the new burner but I am really happy with it so far. Much better build quality than those other two. The gas and air intakes are so much better that I get a much cleaner and hotter flame (a little tricky with super thin air at 6,500 ft of elevation).

Used a plate chiller for the first time the other day. Lo and behold, i forgot to get a paint strainer bag for the hop spider, and used about 6 oz of pellet hops for a 10 gal batch. I thought the kettle screen would do justice, but that ended up being the worst thing ever. All the hop residue just ended up collecting around the outside of the screen from the suction from the pump. It was a lot of fun scraping the screen with a spoon to keep it clear for 15 minutes straight while the wort cooled. Kettle screens are a load of ****. Only good for a false bottom i guess. Wouldn't know, never used one for that application.

Whole hops work well with a kettle screen. I couldn't imagine using pellet hops without a hop spider.

My third conical for my homebrewery. My other two are Brewhemoths one of which I plan on selling to upgrade to another Brewers Hardware 20 gallon jacketed and the other dedicated to sours.

Anyone wanna buy a Brewhemoth?

Wait, do you have a glycol line at home?

finally installed the thermowells on the speidel and pail lid...

Yikes. I'm experiencing massive temp swings with this thermowell. Sigh. Hopefully it doesn't affect the flavor of this Hansen IPA

8 degrees. seems like it's taking a while for the temp to stabilize between ambient and wort temp.

I think your temp controller is a POS or you have a loose wire or something. This is the same controller you were using on your freezer?

Yeah. It's the new ink-bird I just bought a few months ago. Even @ a 1 degree differential, temps overshoot 2 degrees below (without thermowell). It happened with my love controller as well.

So I was wrong on the other container coming today. It's going to stay in Baltimore until I can get this shipping container empty. I was able to get the four 2 bbl fermentors out as well as one of the three 10 bbls out with the forklift. The heavy equipment company who is next door (and is our landlord) is going to help us Wednesday to get out the remaining 10 bbl's and mashtun/hlt. The second shipping container with a 20 bbl Brite and 20 bbl conical and boil Kettle should be delivered Friday. Glycol (I will get a picture of it tomorrow... it's huge) is being installed over the next month. They are doing that in their spare time but in the meantime we are buying a 15 gallon glycol chiller to get the 2 bbl's online. Once the larger unit is installed and online I will be buying the 15 gallon at a very good price and it will become part of my home brewery!

What brewery do you work for?

I've been procrastinating on rebuilding my mash tun (SS braid). I think I've got all the parts except for some wire to coil up and feed into the mesh tube to help keep it stable. You guys think that's even necessary?

No idea. I just use a bazooka screen.
