I am trying to set up beersmith....
I selected my profile for equipment as stainless keg

set boil off to 1.25
loss to trub 1 gallon
batch vol: 10 gallon
Ferm Loss: .50 gallon
Boil time: 90 min

I input biermunchers recipe for blonde ale

****10-Gallon Batch****
Batch Size: 11.00 gal
Boil Size: 13.69 gal
Estimated OG: 1.039 SG
Estimated Color: 3.9 SRM
Estimated IBU: 21.6 IBU
Brewhouse Efficiency: 70.0 %
Boil Time: 60 Minutes

Ingredients:
------------
14.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM)
1.25 lb Cara-Pils/Dextrine (2.0 SRM)
1.00 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 10L (10.0 SRM)
1.00 lb Vienna Malt (3.5 SRM)
0.50 oz Centennial [9.50%] (55 min)
0.50 oz Centennial [9.50%] (35 min)
0.50 oz Cascade [7.80%] (20 )
0.50 oz Cascade [7.80%] (5 min)
1 Pkgs Nottingham (Danstar #-) (Hydrated)

Questions:
1. So is it a 10 gallon batch or 11?
2. Either way I put it in I believe its calculating too much water....
For the brewing steps it says to mash in with 25.25 qt of water and
Batch sparge with 2.91 gallon and 7.16 gallon for a total of 16.38 gallon.

Sounds way high to me.

And I configured it for 10 gallon in the batch size for the Design page and the batch size in the config for the equipment.

Did you look at cooling loss and fermenter loss ? It took me a while to get Beersmith setup correctly.

I just left the cooling loss the default.
.46 gallon
Fermenter loss: .50 gallon.

11 gallon batch
+1.875 gallon boil off because it is a 90 minute boil
+.32 gran absorption
+1 gallon to trub loss
+.46 to cooling
+.5 to fermenter loss

That is a total of 15.15 gallons. What am I missing ? Mash tun loss/deadspace ?

1 gal for lauter ton deadspace - Question about that.
its a Keggle with a 15" false bottom. the pickup is at the very bottom of the keggle so really there would be no deadspace correct?

So essentially the figures are on correct?

And when I input this into beersmith do I use 10 gallon or 11 gallon?

Yeah, I use a cooler and I put mine at .2 because I tip the cooler carefully to drain most of the wort. I am still adjusting mine with each brew to get it right but I went through the same issues trying to figure out the water volumes.

When you are done draining that keggle is there almost no wort ?

I believe (and not 100% sure) that the way it works is you say it is a 10 gallon batch. Then Beersmith takes into account all your losses so 10 is going into the fermenter. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.
