Hi folks long time drinker, first time brewer here. Well my first batch I chose to do was an ipa, I had the dreaded blow off and overflow. I lost a lot of beer, its fine fermenting and my I was wondering if I could/should add water to make up for the lost beer?

Thanks for any help with this.

Ok I read about that, but I didn't think it would be, that dramatic, wow! The pop sound scared my wife, well worth the look on her face..

LOL!!! :drunk:

Did it hit the ceiling? I've seen one of them. Freshly painted room, friend didn't want to listen. POP!!! :cross:

I would think that if you add water, you take the chance of contaminating the beer, and weakening the flavor. I've used the blow off method, and that eased my mind in the wee hours that I wasn't messing up the laundry room where I ferment. And good luck :mug:
