Hello everyone...what a great place you have here! Many of you have already provided much needed advice and may not even know it. I hope to be able to do the same...sooner than later. Until then...keep on brewing!

There's a good LHBS in Salem, Homebrew Heaven I think it's called. Been there? Owner has a rep as being "grumpy" though. Personally I am of the opinion that if you do your homework and ask the right questions he is VERY helpful... at least, that was my experience.

Good luck and welcome!

Nice. Brewing in Oregon is sweet. You might look into growing your own hops at some time. The Willamette Valley is ideal territory for hops. In fact, OSU has a special hop breeding program. You have probably noticed how many local references ther are in the common hop varieties...Willamette, of course, Cascade, and the chinook hops are from a Washington breeding program. Many other hop varieties were established in our region too. Bonus.

Thanks for welcome and info, everyone!

wailingguitar: Yes...have been there a couple of times. Prices a little too high for me, though...its the only one in Salem! No worries...several in the Portland area.

HopLife: I couldn't agree with you more. Been here 4 yrs now...plan to grow a few this year.
