Well I've decided to pick up brewing as a hobby and have started my first beer which was a midas touch clone using the recipe and instructions I found on this site. It's in the primary right now and seems to be doing great. I'm looking forward to learning more about brewing and hope to one day never buy much beer again because even though I've only just started, I'm so excited and can't wait to get full swing into brewing.

Welcome to the hobby and the site. There is much fun ahead. As far as never buying beer again, you'll have to do a LOT of brewing and have a pretty steady pipeline. I'm by no means close to either one of those, but even if I was I would still like to try different beers. For one I wouldn't want to get a 5gal batch going that I might not like and two, beers can vary quite a bit between breweries even within the same style. After trying a local breweries maibock I didn't really care for it, but I tried one from a different brewery and I loved it. Either way it will lessen the amount of beer you buy and you'll have fun doing it.

Maybe got a little excited there. I'll definitely buy more beers but I've always been one that took a lot of pride in DIY things and so I'd prefer to drink the beers I've made if I can make them good enough just because I made them. My father gave me some advice before I started, he tried brewing once and told me to drink a couple store bought beers before I start drinking mine so mine will taste "better." :tank:
