So I've been going back and fourth over what to do about my temperature sensor options in my Stout kettles. The thermowells are 2.25" long within the kettle and 1/2" female NPT outside. I originally bought the liquid tight RTD sensors that Auber sells since it would thread into my well, but it's not really meant for my application since the temp. sensor tip is buried beneath another layer of stainless.

Fortunately (it worked out in the end), my stainless probe on the sensor tip was bent and I needed a replacement. This started a two week long questions and answer email exchange with Kane from Auber Instruments (THEY HAVE AWESOME CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!!!) and I settled on the simple RTD probe (http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=20_15&products_id=46) without NPT mounting and straight cabling as it was really what I needed, but didn't allow for disconnect at the kettle and control panel during cleanup. I was happy, since my cabling and sensor are functional, but I really wanted something with the NPT mounting and an exposed sensor tip since I already have a protected well in my kettle...

Yesterday, I received an email from Kane and after some thought on their end they modified an existing product to offer exactly what I wanted!!! :rockin:(here's the link)

The 1/2" NPT mounting comes with 10" of sensor tip cabling but they were more than happy to cut that down to the exact length that I needed.

Not that this will be used by everyone, by the Stout kettles now have a fix for someone who doesn't want to retrofit their own sensor. Plus, I wanted a thread started for anyone who was in my situation and does a simple search to see what others have found.

Great. Haven't had an issue since I bought them and brew once every month or two. The cable that comes with the probe is top quality and the disconnect at the kettle is super convenient for moving my brew cart and control panel/pump cart separately.

Thought I'd add as well that the PID reads dead on with a digital thermometer I use to check temp with in the HLT while I heat the dough-in water.
