Just bought a beginner kit and looking to start a batch this weekend. I moved from Portland, Oregon where I could get any sort of beer I wanted to Lubbock, where there's selection, but not as wide. I like that Texas, in general, is really starting to get a craft brew scene. There's been small pockets here and there, but it looks like more people are starting to develop a palate for quality beers.

I also am really interested in brewing root beers, ginger ales, colas. I may start with that since it's got a little quicker turn around...

Anyway, looking forward to asking dumb questions and getting good recipes for good IPAs and Pale Ales.

I'm about 90 miles west from you in Hobbs, NM. Relatively new to the area as well. Sograte is your LHBS there and he is very nice to deal with.

Welcome to the area...hopefully not too much culture shock!
