That's cool. I know of someone who only ever rinsed his bottles and claims he's never had a bad one.
What would you advise new brewer's to do though? There's quite a bit to know if you're able to skip taking a reading.

On the other hand, I do, and I've been brewing that same period. I don't subscribe to the super-anal methodology, but the basics are easy and worthwhile. A buddy of mine, Socrates, was fond of saying the unexamined beer is not worth brewing. So I examine them.

Soccy liked the traditional balanced beers, as he was a hoplite, but he didn't refrain from tasting and commenting on my IPA's and such. Last I heard he was experimenting with hemlock. I miss that guy.

Sure they have made beer for hundreds of years without the tools we have now. But these tools have helped us understand what is going on with the beer and yeast, and ultimately led to brewing better beers.

I've been brewing longer, and still have my original Hydrometer. I like to know the OG and FG of every batch. I still learn a lot from these readings.

With the ease of using these tools, I can't understand why anyone wouldn't take a reading. Not talking about multiple readings, but an FG is so simple to take when bottling, and you can drink the sample for further research.

In '95 , I was working on a job, on the porch was a plastic brew bucket with water lock. The water lock was what caught my eye..Asking what it was about. The owner said it was beer.. I drank a lot beer while station in West Germany..my favorite was bitburger.. When I got back to the Texas I went into the LHBS. I am the kind of person who likes to build things,IMG_20180520_181400.jpg IMG_20180520_181400.jpg

Yes I do not take OG or FG.. I was encouraged too.lots of time's.. I fermented in carboys, only primary, I can see when the fermentation is done and then I will wait for the beer to clear and wait..that is why carboys are the best . No I don't know what the FG was ending, if I wanted it stronger I will add more fermentable next time

It's all just a troll. Spunding valve on keg. Electric control panel. Yeah, never taken a reading.

And I've never had a hamburger.
No I not here to troll.. just saying I don't take hhydrometer readings.

Sorry dude. The Mongoose is right. Skipping something as basic as a hydrometer reading is for noobs with their first kit on the kitchen stove.
You say you actually own one, but don't use it.
Not sure what you're trying to prove here.
