In march, my wife and I bought a new house. My next door neighbor is a super nice guy and he mentioned that he "needed a hobby" because even with work and family life (we both have 2 small children) he still needed an outlet. In that moment I knew we'd be friends because while having children has slowed my hobbies a bit, I have not only more hobbies than anyone I know, I probably have more interests than everyone I know combined. He and I have been doing some wood working projects together (gate for his deck, some stools for his kids, a quilt rack) but I think I'm going to see if he wants to learn home brewing. He isn't a big drinker but I think he is the kind of guy (a man after my own heart) where if someone offers to teach you something- you eagerly learn from them.

I'm thinking Brandon O's "Graff" hopped/malted cider would be a great recipe to make. I love it and have personally made 25-30 gallons of the stuff over the years but it also hits the high notes for partial grain brewing and makes an end product that is in my opinion, much different from anything you could have gone to the store and bought.

My brewing equipment is currently on loan to another friend but I'll get it back soon and I'll introduce my neighbor to the wonderful world of home brewing.

you sir are either a really nice guy, or a really cruel one. And all for the same reason. Let us assume you introduce him to brewing and he loves it. He will then go nuts over it (like most of the people here) and that will a nice thing to do for him a good and fun hobby. that is cruel because of the money and time and such that it takes

:) happy brewing!

Hey there Handsome! (;) you may be creating a monster...
You are a really nice guy to loan your brew equipment out to your friends. Do a brew day that includes whichever beer you have currently made for your and your neighbor to drink while you are brewing and see what he has to say about the process. I haven't introduced any new friends to brewing beer yet, but I have created some new hard cider makers and drinkers with my neighbors. :D
