Hi gang,

I'm splitting up my hops and moving them today and do you think I can identify what the rhizomes are? :( This is HopZilla, been in the ground over 15 years and never been maintained. Are the rhizomes the pudgy little things on the root?

Look forward to your quick replies.

Cheers

They will work fine as rhizomes. Pretty much any rood that grows laterally can be used as a rhizome if you see nodes on them.

Thanks Halifax,

I ended up with 15 separate plants, most of them had shoots coming out of the ground already, a few of them are just the roots that you see in the pics. We'll see what pops up in the next month or so. About 10 of them look healthy and have sprouted little leaves. Let's hope they continue to flourish. I have been gently watering them every day, and am installing my drip irrigation later today. Supposed to hit 27C here today, then drizzly for the weekend. I used bone meal and mushroom manure in each hole as I was planting them.

Cheers

Paul
