i ordered the ingriediants to make biermunchers blue moon clone, the recipe calls for 4.5 lbs flaked wheat, and on the bags i got it says flaked oats.

if i use the oats then im not going to have a witbier right?

also if i do use them, what will happen to the taste of my beer?

if you use 4.5 lbs of oats you'll probably end up with a gooey messy stuck sparge. I dont think oats contribute heavily to flavor generally, mostly mouthfeel and body, however I've never used more than a pound or 2 in a batch.

If you roast the oats you will get a really nice flavour. But since you are brewing a Wit I wouldn't do it. When using flaked oats don't use more than 10%.
