I've searched this site, google, this sites wiki and still can't understand.

What's DME? and all the other acronyms?

Many extract recipes talk about using light dme, etc, and I have no idea. My local and famous HB shop sells Pale Malt Extract (PME?), amber malt extract, dark malt extract, and wheat malt extract. It makes sense to me, except when I come on HBT and look at recipes. Why would DWM (dark malt extract) be used in pilsners? What is "light DME" not called pale malt extract?

I bought 33lb's of pale malt extract today and don't know anything other than it will work well in pilsner, but there is not label on the large jug giving specs or anything.

Try the HBT (homebrewtalk - just realise that would not be helpful to list it as a TLA (Three Letter Acronym)) wiki, has lots of good info in there!
