Melons are very heavy feeders, so they might take some of the nutrients from the hops. If your soil is good enough then both should do well.
Top Tip...Look after your soil and your plants will look after themselves.
 
Thanks for the advice.

I fertilize the hops weekly (with a very dilute, high nitrogen fertilizer - per Fresh Hops advice)

Trick is with fruits, high nitrogen will make huge plants, but not much fruit - they need phosphorus to bear fruit.

I'll let you know in 3-4 months how both did.

Also, tomatoes hit with high nitrogen early on (weekly for 1 month 1/3 strength Miracle Gros after transplanting 6" plants, then to low N and high P, flowers like crazy, plus on 9 plants, have 28 tomatoes.
