If you were to pour a TON of sugar/wort into a small pond & bring the gravity up to 1.05 or greater, do you think it would ferment out & the pond (no rain) would contain alcohol?

For example, a wild pond with thousands of gallons of water.

Just something I thought about a long time ago. Whenever I see some nasty ponds with foam on top of it, I always have the thought "Fermentation." Even though, it obviously isn't. I'd assume there is lots of wild yeast in these ponds.

Anyone think this theory would be true or false?

You'd definitely have "fermentation" of the wild kind ;)

and I'm sure there'd be some smaller-than-normal amount of alcohol

But that would take a lot of sugar :D
