Driving down my street I see a pretty decent looking 4 or 5 cubic foot fridge on the side of the road. I stop and the outside looks almost perfect, the compressor has not a sign of rust on it or any dents at all.

I open it up. The best description of what was inside would be the "Fridge monster" from the cartoon Cowboy Bebop that tried to kill the entire ships crew.

That would be a worthwhile gamble though..... as long as the blob didn't drink all your beer.

I'm upset that you didn't take it, but I'm even more upset that the dink who left it there didn't remove the doors....didn't he see the PSA about children getting trapped in refrigerators and suffocating?

I don't think the kind of people who just dump junk by the side of the road are the sort to pay attention to PSAs or think about other people.

Every time I open up an old fridge like this, there's a dead hooker inside. You think that's where they sleep?

Would of needed a 4 or 5 year old to fit, I would say much better than watching the kids.

Not sure if the laws are update, but modern fridges (last 40 years...) don't have latches, and are just held closed by the magnetic strip, so the danger to a kid is almost nil now.

Yeah, now you have to wrap the bungee cord around really tight to keep 'em from getting out. :p

Went to clean out the fridge at our rental property last night. Tenants took off, left the power off. Fridge is NASTY. All solids are now liquids, and their is a small army of bugs getting ready to attack the outside world. I'm not even sure I want to clean it. Considered strapping it closed and hauling it off....

Similar thing happened to me today. I was driving by and saw an old chest freezer at the end of someone's driveway for the garbage. First thought was new keezer! I should have known it was gonna be bad when I had to peel of the duct tape that was keeping the lid closed on the freezer...

I would have taken it regardless if I had a larger vehicle. Might try to go back in the morning with my dad's though, haha.
