My wife and I bought 5 gallons of various Carlo Rossi wines because they were 1/2 off and we wanted the jugs for mini carboys. My wife being the tight-wad she is, couldn't bear to throw out wine....even this cheap stuff.
We bottled it into regular wine bottles and corked. This was more than a month ago. 2 days ago my wife heard a cork blow in the pantry. She discovered that it was actually the 2nd one to have blown. We placed all of the remaining bottles in refrigeration. She just popped a cork on another and it is like a very dry sparkling champagne.

We had 3 varieties, chardonnay, riesling and pinot. Only the chardonnay seems to be affected. Any theories on what would start these commercial wines to restart fermenting?
